Standing solo in a crowd
conversations all around.
To the laughing, swarming, hum;
only Silence met my lips,
and Water coated my tongue.
I clench my fist.
Remembering all the times
The pointed fingers stabbed my mind;
The laughter followed me home;
And the words broke my bones.
Just breathe and remember,
Remember the times you got back up, stood tall,
and rose to defeat the lies.
The times you smiled, laughed, and didn’t cry
That you never, ever, crossed that line.
Even when you just wanted the pain to stop.
Inhale, exhale.
Inhale, exhale.
Unclench your fist.
Look around and talk.
You’re not there anymore.
Over the next few weeks, the editorial staff will be preparing the finalized 8th Issue of Route 7 Review for online enjoyment. We will not be publishing new content during this transition time. We have a wonderful issue in store including new fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and audio recordings from many authors and a professional voice actor. We're thankful to all of our contributors!
Watch our page for the finalized issue in early December.
